This is the tenth book in the Henry Wright Mystery Series. Henry is a retired chief of police from a small town in northern Wisconsin. He is living quietly in Palm Springs in a mid-century home with his new wife Gloria and their housemate Charles Knightly.

Henry and his wife are at their second home in Sonora, escaping the Palm Springs desert heat during the summer months. They head to the local Indian Casino for a little gambling, dinner and a show when their old friend Sheriff Bill Rustow interrupts their evening with a request for their help.

The manager of the casino is found on the floor of his office, someone ritually killed him and his office safe is open and one hundred thousand dollars is missing. The three friends are quickly tracking this sadistic killer and uncovering the secrets of the local native community.
