This mystery whodunit features Henry Wright, a former police chief from Eagle River Wisconsin, who retired to Palm Springs after the death of his wife. In this book, Henry's housemate and friend, Charles Knightly III, is hit by a mysterious black truck which leaves him at Desert Hospital in a coma. The truck disappears without a trace and Henry and Gloria rush back from Sonora in Northern California to be by Charles' side. The police department is overworked and the couple set out to help figure out who would want to hurt Charles.
